Spring Break Forever

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for… Spring Break! Well, for us OU students, spring break is actually over… But, the warm weather we’ve been having has me in the spring break mood. Even though we may be back from our beach getaways, we can still look as if we’re sunkissed and beach-ready! Today, I’m going to share my beauty tips for keeping your spring break glow lasting until summertime. #springbreakforever

1. The Perfect Tan (part 1): Glowing Bronzer

I’ve said it once and I will say it again: the Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer is absolute perfection when it comes to radiant bronzers. The slight shimmer mixed with the buildable bronzer creates a dewy and fresh bronze when applied. It instantly illuminates and bronzes to create a natural looking tan. Plus it’s waterproof, so it will stay on through swim and sweat. I am always trying different bronzers, experimenting with blending different colors together. In my personal opinion, bronzers with a little shimmer show off more of a sunkissed look. Matte bronzer is a great product to use to create a more subtle, natural tan. Whether shimmery or matte, bronzer is a necessity for creating a tan and sculpted face.

I live to bronze. Here are some of my favorite products. Clockwise starting from top left: Trish McEvoy Face Shaper Palette in Dark, Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder Compact in Bronze 03, Nars Bronzer in Laguna, Nars Illuminator in Laguna, Diorskin Nude Tan in 003

2. The Perfect Tan (part 2): Self Tanner

Having a sunkissed glow is coveted whether you’re at the beach or not. Let’s face it, life is better tan! When I came across this first product, my initial thought was “WHERE has this product been my whole life?” It’s the In Shower Gradual Tan lotion by St. Tropez. I know that the worst part of tanning lotion is putting it on, and keeping it on for 15 minutes or so. It’s too messy for my liking. This stuff is great because you can just apply it in the shower, keep it on for a few minutes, then rinse. Within just a few days of using this little savior, your golden glow will start to appear! Plus the lotion won an Allure Best of Beauty Award, so you know it will be good.

Another product I like is Jergen’s Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer. Your tan will take a little longer to show up than the in-shower tanning lotion, but the result is definitely a natural-looking bronze. I also loves the lotion because it’s not too sticky or messy to use, and it can take the place of my regular body lotion since it’s so moisturizing. Grab this lotion ASAP to get a head-start on that au natural tan.

3. Tools of the Trade (part 3)

Warm weather means showing more skin. Lotions and moisturizers are just one necessity of keeping your skin soft and smooth, but sometimes other tools are needed. For example, I tend to get bad calluses on my feet, and now that its almost sandal weather, I need to make sure my feet are ready to face the world. That’s why I use a pumice stone almost everyday after I get out of the shower. Afterward, I will use body lotion on my feet to keep them hydrated. Pumice stones are sold at almost any drugstore, so you basically have no excuse to NOT have great looking feet.  Don’t forget to use a cuticle trimmer and file your toenails afterward for an at-home pedi! This kind of maintenance is not the most glamorous, but it’s definitely necessary.

4. Beach Waves (My Fave… and part 4)

What better way to get those beach vibes going than having beachy waves?! I am obsessed with creating super voluminous, messy, and wavy hair. I use a few products in particular to help aid me with this. In my BirchBox last month, I received a sample of Parlor by Jeff Chastain Moisturizing Sea Salt Spray.  First of all, it smells too good to be true. If you can envision the smell of tropical beach, that’s what it smells like. Second, this product creates waves, without leaving behind a crunchy residue. As for the volume, I love my Dear Clarke Volumizing Tonic. I just spritz this on my roots a few times when my hair is damp. When it dries, I’m left with big, voluminous hair. This product is basically a miracle worker. When my hair is dry, I finish with a hair oil. Any oil will do, but I personally use the Alterna Haircare Omega + Nourishing Hair Oil. This has lasted me nearly two years because a little amount of this oil goes a long way. Hair oil is key in creating healthy looking hair.
