It’s 2016, and when it comes to cosmetics, there are hundreds of options to choose from. There could be ten different products with the same purpose, so how are you expected to decide which is right for you?
Beauty boxes have become more and more popular over the past couple of years. The first I had heard of was Birchbox, and since then, more brands have been popping up. Prices typically range from $10-$20 dollars a month for a box filled with various beauty and cosmetic items.
Now that we have even more choices, which one is right for you?
I’m here to give you the beauty box breakdown so that you can decide which best suits your beauty needs.
BirchBox 4-5 Samples for $10/mo.
As a Birchbox user, I’m always happy with my purchase. Their brands range from high-end to affordable, and the sample size is always very generous. Cosmetic samples are not all that they offer. Hair products, skincare, fragrance, snacks, and more are also sold online. New brands are added all of the time, for example Nest Fragrances and Milk Makeup have just been added to the site (both of which I love.) Some brands that they offer include Benefit, Stila, Eyeko, Living Proof, and soooo many more (literally pages and pages.) Filling out your beauty profile after logging in will help Birchbox send you the best products possible.
Glossy Box 5 Samples for $21/mo.
Looking for something a little more high-end? With their adorable light pink and black packaging, Glossybox provides you with the most luxurious beauty products, monthly. I use the term “beauty” loosely when it comes to their options. From haircare, cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance, Glossybox will give you the products you need to keep on lookin’ classy. The price may seem a little steep, but I must say, you are getting some pretty fancy deluxe samples. Brands that they offer include O.P.I., Too Faced, Butter London, Chantecaille, and Glam Glow. There are seriously so many amazing brands that you can check out here. Like Birchbox, you can fill out your beauty profile so that Glossybox can chooses items specifically tailored to your interests.
Ipsy 5 Samples for $10/mo.
Created by beauty guru Michelle Phan, Ipsy carries a multitude of beauty products and cosmetics. Their full sized and deluxe sample sized products are really similar to what Birchbox and Glossybox sell. Brands would include Ciate, NYX, Living Proof, Colour Pop, as well as many other new beauty brands. When logging in, you are required to take a beauty quiz, that way Ipsy can send you products that you’ll surely love.
Boxycharm 4-5 Full Size Items for $21/mo.
Boxycharm is a beauty subscription box that I recently stumbled upon, and I must say that I’m intrigued. Each month, instead of a sample, you receive full size products to try out. The price may seem a little expensive, but for receiving full size products from quality brands, it’s quite the bargain. Some of the brands offered are Tarte, Cargo, and Revlon. You can see all of their brands here.
Beauty Box 5 5 Deluxe Samples for $12/mo.
Looking for some variety? Beauty Box 5 has got you covered. Working with a multitude of brands, you will receive anything from skincare to haircare products. Their brands range from new and up-and-coming, to organic and drugstore classics. Some would include Dove, Organix, It’s a 10, Becca, and many more. I would say that what sets this box apart from the others is the variety and the price. For only $12, you can experiment with products from classic brands that have been everybody’s beauty staple at some point (Aveeno Oatmeal Face Scrub anyone??). Bottom line: If you are looking to try products that you will be able to afford after trying the sample, check out Beauty Box 5.
Beauty boxes are a great and affordable way to test out new products and channel your inner beauty fanatic. Whether you’re into organic cosmetics, haircare, or both, there is a box for you somewhere out there. Plus, who doesn’t like receiving mail the old fashioned way?? This is basically the only package that I ever get, and I wait for it patiently every month. Still not sure which subscription box is worth your time and money? Check out InStyle for the breakdown on more brands and boxes.
