Everything You Should Know About Beauty Oils

I’ve been a fan of using oils for a while now. Beauty oils can be used anywhere on the body: the face, hair or nails. As of recently, natural and plant-derived products have been at the top of my must-have list. When I find an oil packed with ingredients like Argan, grape seed, tea tree, or avocado, I’m instantly intrigued. Today, I’m going to share with you which oils I use and where I use them, as well as why you should try them out too!

Hair

Hair oils have been a crucial part of my routine for years. My hair is naturally thick, frizzy, and wavy, and I need something to tame my mane. My favorite oils that I have used would include the ever so popular Moroccanoil Treatment, and the Alterna Haircare Caviar Anti-Aging Omega + Nourishing Hair Oil. I love the Caviar Hair Oil especially because of the smell. I don’t know if that should be the sole reason for loving it, but it’s seriously amazing. The great part about this oil in particular is that it is formulated with certain botanicals that help promote vibrancy and hair strength. I also really like the applicator on this Alterna product. The dropper makes it mess-free and super easy to get the proper amount of product.

Face + Body

My big reason for advocating beauty oils is for their intense hydration. I love when my skin is soft and glowing, but then again who doesn’t?! Using a natural oil can give you that summertime glow year-round.

I’m sure that some of you are familiar with Josie Maran and her Argan Oil cosmetics line.

I have tried several products from this line, and I am definitely a fan of them. All of her products, including the makeup itself, has hydrating Argan oil within the formula. I own her classic 100% Pure Argan Oil, which I use for anything and everything. It’s great for hair, as well as skin and nails, making you feel completely conditioned and hydrated. This product has never clogged my pores, and if you have really oily skin, there is a lightweight option of this product. Josie Maran’s Argan Coconut Watercolor Eyeshadow is one of my all-time favorite products because it hydrates the eyelids while also making them pop with color.

I am obviously a big fan of Milk Makeup’s Sunshine Oil.

It is infused with a mixture of natural and essential oils such as grape seed oil, tangerine peel, and mandarin, which give way to not only hydrated, glowing skin, but it also has the most amazing citrus smell ever.  I love the rollerball applicator because it makes applying it to my arms, legs, and face easy and convenient.

I have also tried some oil cleansers, and I was a huge fan of one in particular. The Shea Cleansing Oil by L’Occitane en Provence is definitely a product that I would buy again. I’m the type of person that absolutely hates taking my makeup off. When a cleanser can take off all of my makeup and cleanse my skin in one single step, I’m all in. The Shea butter within the formula makes my skin supple and hydrated. If you are looking to cut back on the time that you spend washing your face after a long day wearing makeup, this cleansing oil is definitely something to consider.

Now, I know what you may be thinking.

“I have oily skin, why would I use a cleansing oil?”

Well, I will let you in on a little secret. Incorporating an oil-based cleanser into your routine allows for every single bit of makeup to be removed from your face. This type of cleanser will not clog the pores either. You are only massaging it onto dry skin for around one minute, which is just enough time to cause makeup to cling to the cleanser, leaving you with clean skin. After using an oil-based cleanser, you would follow up with a water-based or foaming cleanser that you have on hand. I promise you that your skin will feel amazingly refreshed if you give an oil-based cleanser a try!

The point that I wanted to get across in this week’s post is that you should experiment with different beauty products, like a beauty oil, to see how they work for you. Who knows, they could be the missing piece in your beauty routine!

Until next time,

Alex
