Sorry I couldn’t post last week. My laptop broke and I didn’t have one for a few days… which was tragic. Needless to say, I am using my cracked, old one until my new one is fixed, which isn’t the greatest situation, but I’ll take it.
Anyway, let’s get to talking about beauty products.
Last weekend, I fed my obsession by indulging in some new beauty products (shocker). I ordered some awesome products at Sephora, obviously. I had a bunch of points, so I was able to get a ton of extra samples too! I was pretty content with my latest additions after trying them, so let me tell you why.
I have been absolutely dying to try a new burgundy eyeshadow. Around this time last year, I remember trying on a perfect burgundy color by Dior, and the shade has not left my mind since then. I have a Nars Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Sycorax, which is black with a hint of shimmer, and it is definitely an awesome product. Whenever I need to create a perfect black liner, it’s my go-to. That shadow prompted me to try this one, and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised.
When ordering this product, I envisioned something a little bit darker than what I received, but once I tried the product on, I was sold. The burgundy has more of a pink-hue too it, rather than a dark red, which is not what I had in mind. Regardless, the shade is a beautiful pinkish-burgundy with a dramatic shimmer. Not a super sparkly shimmer, but rather a luminescent shine with very fine glitter specs. This product is gorgeous dry, but after I used a wet brush, I was taken aback. The color instantly got deeper, which is exactly what I had in mind! Looking at the swatches side by side, I instantly noticed the versatility of this one eyeshadow shade.
The description of the eyeshadow on Sephora was, “A creaseless, eight-hour wear eye shadow with a transformative texture for wet or dry application,” and this shadow definitely lived up to that promise. After applying my favorite Nars Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base (yes, I’ve used this base since high school), I applied the eyeshadow with a small, flat eyeshadow brush that I just dipped in water. The color was amazing, and lasted all night! I definitely want to pick up some more Dual Intensity Eyeshadows and Nars’ Dual Intensity Blush.
OK, so this product was a sample, and all I have to say is WOW. The formula is neutral-colored with shimmer, and you simply apply it anywhere you want to look airbrushed and glowing. So naturally, I applied it everywhere. I put it on my face, legs, arms and collarbone. I instantly noticed a difference. Now I know that I don’t have any wrinkles or age spots, but this product made my pores disappear and blurred any flaw that I had on my skin. It was almost like magic.
Notice the shimmer on my arm and how it compares to the bare skin on my hand. This product definitely creates an airbrushed glow!Notice the shimmer on my arm and how it compares to the bare skin on my hand. This product definitely creates an airbrushed glow!
The only thing I am still not to sure about is the shimmer. Now I’m all for shimmer, but I feel like it had slightly more than I would have liked. The shimmer in this product would be really flattering if I had a tan, but let’s face it, it’s almost October and my tan is fading away quicker than I would like. If I saw this product in a matte finish, I would definitely be intrigued.
With my Sephora points, I was also able to score a trio of deluxe samples from Belif. I received a mini The True Cream Aqua Bomb, The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb, and the Hungarian Water Essence. I’d like to start off by say that none of these products were greasy or oily. They instantly hydrated my skin without weighing it down. The Aqua Bomb is especially my favorite. It gives a cooling sensation to the skin, making it feel instantly clean, refreshed and hydrated. I typically get dry patches around my eyes and nose, but with this product all of that flaky skin vanished!
My eyelids were especially dry the other day, so I applied some of the Moisturizing Bomb, and soon my eyes were smoother and more hydrated than ever before! The Moisturizing Bomb is awesome because it delivers 11-hours of moisture. In the past, I have used Aquaphor for my dry spots, and I wasn’t too fond of its greasy and heavy consistency. After trying the Moisturizing Bomb, I will honestly never use something as heavy as Aquaphor on my face again. The Hungarian Water Essence is also a neat product. It is not a lotion or cream, but it is also not completely liquid. It is a little thicker than liquid, and instantly absorbed into the skin when applied. This product is hydrating, and smells really natural and fresh, but I have been layering it with the Aqua Bomb instead of wearing it alone.
This mini-online shopping spree only put me in the mood to shop even more. I plan to go to Sephora again this weekend and shop my heart out, so I will keep you all posted on what I find!
